A sweet pause for the Equinox
Honouring the pause before 'springing' forward into a new season
Just at the sweet buds and fresh leaves are beginning to unfurl… I too sense an unfurling happening within me.
Of course, we are not separate from nature, despite what we are told to believe, so the fact that our energy levels may be slowly expanding, our willingness and tolerance to socialise is increasing and our inspiration is gently igniting, is no coincidence. We too are awakening with the buds and blooms.
The time of the Equinox is when we may feel this most intensely. With the promise of Sping all around us, there is an excited anticipation, urgency even, as we approach the months of light and warmth.
But we must also remember and acknowledge that we are only just escaping the grips of winter. There is a crispness to the air still and the sun tentatively peaks through the grey rain clouds. We’re in a liminal space of in-betweenness.
This is a time of easeful, gentle transition and we are only just beginning to rub the winters sleep from our eyes.
The Spring Equinox is giving energy of the excitable Fool and potential filled Ace of Wands… but just because we are welcoming the first day of spring, doesn’t mean we need to jump in with both feet.
We can, and must, take it slow and steady, as our gaze adjusts to the brightness and we view the world with fresh eyes filled with wonder.
Imagine yourself as a 6 month old baby; now more awake and alert, able to see more clearly and longer distances, intrigued by every new, wonderful object in your surroundings. But… you are not able to move independently and explore yet. You have the urge, desire and inclination to move forward but your body simple will not allow it. How frustrating this must be!
It is so valid if you’re feeling frustration, irritation or anxiety arise, as the desire to get out and do all the things your heart is calling you to do ignites within you.
But slowly slowly darling one. You can take your time. There is no rush.
Summer awaits but for now, ease yourself into Spring with love, care and deep tending to yourself and your soul.
If you’d like to pull some cards for the Equinox, here are some prompts for you;
- In which area of my life am I being called to slow down before springing forward?
- In which areas of my life perhaps need an uplift with this Spring vibrancy?
- How can I deeply nourish and tend to myself before Summer arrives?
- What needs illuminating and shining a light on within my self?
- How can I slow down and appreciate the magic of Spring?
- How can I transmute this sense of anxiety, urgency and anticipation?
Or simply,
- What message do I need to hear right now?
- What is my theme for Spring?
I opted for the final question and pulled Strength (I say pulled, it truly flew out of the deck!)
I feel that this is a reminder that yes, I may need to be strong with what’s to come in this season of life. But this card is also about deep tending; a yearning to turn the soil before planting seeds, setting the groundwork and foundations in place now, so that I can later dance blissfully amongst the wildflowers.
Strength is about having the courage to turn inwards, slow down and really look inside, when the world is doing and telling me otherwise. Whilst Spring is a time of expansion and energy shifting outward… this card feels like a gentle hug and validation that I can take my time and care for myself, first and foremost.
Sending you so much love on this beautiful day! And as always, I’d love to know what is coming up for you with your cards xo
Oh such gorgeous prompts! Thank you so much lovely one, it’s really tempting to jump out the start box… especially today as it’s felt so alive and even, dare I say it, warm!! But I know we are not quite ‘there’ yet so am seizing the light when it is here but not getting too attached to it! Xxx
