You may have noticed a couple of changes around here… the most notable being the name of my Substack publication.
‘Tarot for life’ is still at the absolute heart of what I do; making tarot accessible for all and relatable in every day life.
But Slow Tarot is a step further, an evolution, into how we can infuse and embody tarot cards into our daily existence to help us come home to who we truly are, in any given moment.
(If you’re in the for ride, pop the kettle on and open this post in your app or web browser as it’s a lengthy one.)
To truly get to the essence of what Slow Tarot truly is, I feel I must first answer; what is slow living?
By definition, it is “…a lifestyle emphasizing slower approaches to aspects of everyday life.” — Wikipedia Slow Living
However one of my favourite descriptions comes from slow living ldn…
“Slow living is a mindset whereby you curate a more meaningful and conscious lifestyle that’s in line with what you value most in life. By slowing down and intentionally placing your true values at the heart of your lifestyle, a slow living mindset encourages you to live in self-awareness and make conscious, purposeful decisions for the benefit of your well-being and that of the planet.”
So, how does tarot come into play?
Well, pulling a tarot card, by its nature, is a conscious act of slowing down. By thinking about your deck, reaching for it and pulling a card or two (or more), you are intentionally choosing to connect with yourself, through your cards.
So by deepening into this practice, we can infuse our daily lives with slowness, intentionality and consciousness, thus aligning ourselves with our values and what truly matters to us, beyond the noise, hustle and busyness of our day to day.
Tarot is a mirror and can help to bring the subconscious to the surface, allowing us to uncover where we’re feeling stuck, misaligned or out of whack… that then invites us to explore the reasons why, ultimately reaching a place of discovery, self-realisation and healing.
It can also aid us in living more intentionally by connecting us within, by helping guide us home to ourselves… so that we know who we are and what we desire, allowing us to show up to our lives fully and joyfully.
Ok, now we’re getting to the juicy bit; the part where living slowly and pulling tarot cards intertwine…
Slow Tarot works two-fold; both in the way it is practiced/used… and in the subsequent ripples it creates in our lives.
Just because we’re using tarot ‘slowly’, doesn’t necessarily mean that it needs to take a long time or be an enormous spread. The intention is that we are slowing down enough to connect with our cards, and ourselves, in a mindful, intuitive, conscious way. This could be as simple as drawing one card and looking at it for 5 minutes before carrying on with your day.
Of course we could stop there and that would be more than enough… But I also want to share ways that we can embody this method of using tarot so that we can use it to inspire and create a life of joy, ease and simplicity.
Slow Tarot is an intentional and intuitive way of using tarot that echoes out into life.
The outcome of the what I wish to share here, is to inspire others to live a simple, slow, sacred and soulful life… gently led by the grounded guidance of tarot.
My approach to tarot is rooted in our inner knowing; that we already have all the answers that we seek, we just rarely give ourselves the time and space to ask and listen.
This is one of the main reasons why I stopped holding ‘traditional’ tarot readings. Simply telling people what the cards meant felt like a disservice and disempowering to the person I was reading for.
My personal philosophy is that I don’t believe you need to know all the terminology, meanings and interpretations of the cards to use this life-changing tool. In fact, in the past I have guided people through profound experiences who show up with their cards still in the cellophane.
My intention is for Slow Tarot to become a movement, a revolution, a gentle rebellion, an uprising… against the rushing, the pressure, the stress, the lack of regulation, the dis-ease that we experience in the throes of daily life.
By using tarot as a tool to slow down, connect within to our bodies, live from our intuition and self-tend, we are saying no to living a life of disconnect.
Who is Slow Tarot for?
Slow Tarot is for those who wish to slow it down and tend to themselves on a deeper level, to live more intentionally, consciously and in-tune with who they truly are and the lives they wish to lead… illuminated by the wisdom and guidance of the tarot.
This space is for those who want to create a life of simplicity, ease and sacredness in the everyday.
This space is for those who desire to deepen the connection with their intuitive voice, trust their cards and nurture a sense of trust and safety within themselves.
This space is for those who wish to use tarot as a tool to guide them home to the essence of who they are.
Who am I?
I’m Kerry and I am a sacred space holder. I hold the safe container for people to explore tarot intuitively, with clear, gentle guidance and encouragement.
I am a certified coach and mentor, qualified yoga teacher, published writer and mother.
I am grounded, empathetic and loving in my approaches, but I am also open, honest and passionately stand up for what I believe in.
I am an Aquarius Sun, Aries Moon, Virgo Rising, Sacral Generator and INFJ (Advocate). All this to say, I’m an emotionally courageous rebel who will always tell you how incredible you are.
Have I got slow living nailed? Absolutely not. Do I know everything there is to know about tarot? Not even close.
This is a work in progress for me too and I want to share all the real, rawness with you. I haven’t got all this figured out… but that’s kind of the point right? We wouldn't need resources like tarot if we were all perfect.
I am here to support you on your journey as you deepen into what living slow and with intent means to you, and how tarot can guide you on your path back to yourself.
I’m utterly devoted to, and besotted by, this work (can you tell?) and am so excited to begin sharing more about it. Until then, I would love to hear your honest thoughts on what’s coming up for you when reading this… Does working with tarot in this way feel accessible to you? Does it make sense? Does it feel expansive, or a little confusing and scary? Please feel free to ask any questions below, either in the comments or via direct message.
And, as always, I have endless love, thanks and gratitude for you being here.
This sounds amazing and so very exciting 🩷
So beautiful and exciting in its beautiful essence. I so look forward to exploring more with you xx
